FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF REINFORCED CONCRETE

2019-2-7  paper presents a numerical analysis using ANSYS finite element program to develop a model for expecting the performance of seven lightweight aggregate reinforced concrete deep beams with 28 days compressive strength 26MPa and density of 1950Kg/m3 strengthened in shear by externally bonded CFRP. All beams have same dimensions (150mm width, 400mm depth and 1400mm length), longitudinal steelreinforcement ratio ρ=0.0115 and shear steel reinforcing [email protected] CFRP strips 50mm width are used for strengthening. The effective variable parameters were: a/d ratio, CFRP spacing, orientation and number of layers. The results obtained from the ANSYS finite element model got good agreement when compared to the experimental results which were done for the same deep beams with the same material properties, internal reinforcement and strengthening schemes. The results show that the ultimate load and deflection predicted by numerical analysis

2013-12-24  This article presents a finite element analysis of reinforced concrete deep beams using nonlinear fracture mechanics. The article describes the development of a numerical model that includes several nonlinear processes such as compres- sion and tension softening of concrete, bond slip between concrete and reinforcement, and the yielding of the longitu- dinal steel reinforcement. The development also incorporates the Delaunay refinement algorithm to create a triangular topology that is then transformed into a quadrilateral mesh by the quad-morphing algorithm. These two techniques al- low automatic remeshing using the discrete crack approach. Nonlinear fracture mechanics is incorporated using the fic- titious crack model and the principal tensile strength for crack initiation and propagation. The model has been success- ful in reproducing the load deflections, cracking patterns and size effects observed in experiments of normal and high-strength concrete deep beams
